Grass Roots Campaign a 4-step solution to fix Educational Funding in Wisconsin

Welcome

Welcome to the Parents & Community Unite website. We are starting a grass roots campaign across ALL of Wisconsin for Educational Funding. We are tired of all of the referendums and the way that they pit our small communities against one another. It's time to take the fight to Madison and demand change. We need all the help we can get to share this and get people on board.
We need to gather people to follow and like the PCU4Education Facebook page. Our goal is to have 100,000 followers since a lot of our recent elections have been decided by less votes (ie. 30,000 for the governor race). Wisconsin has 5.8M people and I'm betting we can get 1.7% of our population to push a like and follow a Facebook page that is fighting to make our communities stronger and our kids better.

Here's the basics for it:

  • We do not want money. This organization is not asking for donations. We may try to sell a yard sign or a t-shirt to help drum up support and get our message out, but NO profit will be made on anything. The internet and social media are free anyway. This is for the children and our communities.
  • The biggest problem that we have is our representative's are not taking action. They have been talked to by numerous people in many different roles in the community. They had a commission of representatives give them their options to fix it and there is still no action. We now have a new governor that isn't even able to get everyone to agree on a budget yet. It's our turn as parents and community members to do something.

We're laying out a 4-step solution to fix funding. It's really that simple. Step 3 will take a little more time to develop and we are working on it. By the time steps 1 & 2 are fixed, we will have step 3 locked in. Step 1 & 2 are laid out on the site. Give it a look and we would love to get your feedback and if you have any ideas as well.

  1. Step 1 - Raise the Revenue Limit for schools.
  2. Step 2 - Increase Special Education Funding.
  3. Step 3 - Fix the Equalization Formula
  4. Step 4 - Sustainability for the future

Let's get this out there and see what change we can make together. I know I'm tired of fighting among ourselves and we need to go after the root cause. All we need is to get educated and talk about this. The word will spread. Give this a like and follow us on Facebook. Only together can we stand up and have the power to make a change.

Parents & Community Involvement

Are you tired of no change and no support from our lawmakers like the rest of us. I am starting a grass roots campaign across Wisconsin to join and unite.  I wanted to put something together for everyone to unite and to be able to make a change together. I'm not asking everyone to go march the capitol with your signs and I'm not asking for money. I just want everyone to get involved on however they can to assist in educational funding. It could be as simple as having a conversation with someone. Take some knowledge from this site and discuss this with others. Bring ideas together and offer solutions to our lack of funding problem. Proper informed conversations stems great ideas and we would love to hear them. Let's take those ideas and put them together and take that to Madison to our representatives. I have been formulating a 4-step solution to fix educational support and would love to hear your ideas and gain your support. Once I get enough followers and support,  some of us can take this to our lawmakers and present solutions rather than just demand change.

Parents

I started this as concerned parent and not as school representative. I see numerous referendums across WI and realize that they are hurting our community as a whole. It wasn't the need for increased funding that struck me as the need to start this, it the way our community struggled internally over working to get a referendum through. Our kids saw the struggle of our community pitted against one another over the jobs of their teachers that they saw everyday and cared so deeply about. Action needs to be taken to stand up to the representatives to say enough is enough and educational funding needs to be fixed across WI.

Community

The community involvement in this is not just for the parents and teachers. All residents of Wisconsin should care and be involved in this discussion as property owners and tax payers. Decreased funding for the schools, not only hurts the schools, teachers, and children, but also the community. Less residents will want to move to the troubled areas with poor schools and higher taxes. Schools will be cutting back on events as well to save costs. This affects the economy of every district in Wisconsin and we need to work to prevent further loss and build all communities back up state-wide.
